About Masterbatch association

The Masterbatch association represents the interests of German manufacturers of colour and additive masterbatches and has about 20 members.

The Masterbatch association represents a large part of the German market. The association represents the interests of medium-sized businesses in the political arena. It offers member companies a forum for exchanging information and forming opinions as well as for communicating with industry representatives in the value chain.

The Masterbatch association was founded in 1998 as a contact point where common challenges can be identified and addressed. It is the common mouthpiece to the customer industry or to regulatory bodies. In discussions with authorities and customer associations, an industry association is more likely to be heard than an individual company.

The members represent a wide range of products. Within the value chain, the masterbatch manufacturer is both knowledge carrier and mediator: between the producers of colourants and additives, the machine manufacturers and the plastics processors. The Masterbatch association supports its members in communicating with customers and produces position papers and information sheets on product-related, regulatory and economic aspects.

In addition to technical, ecological and regulatory issues, the association also deals with other issues that are equally pressing for all companies, such as the training and further education of skilled workers. For this purpose, a course for colourists, the Extruderführerschein (extruder operator’s licence), the reference book "Colour and Additive Masterbatches in Practice" as well as information on industry-specific job profiles have been developed.
